FENG SHUI INFLUENCE
What is Feng Shui?
Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese practice of home and interior design aimed at maximizing energy flow and living in harmony with the environment. There are many Feng Shui principles, but here are some of them. For each principle, our responses.
CIRCULATING POSITIVE ENERGY — AIR QUALITY
Qi is often defined as energy, but a more literal translation of Qi is "air." Allowing air to circulate freely in the home creates a more peaceful world, a healthy feeling that affects the human body both spiritually and physically. The layout of your rooms must be optimized to promote good "chi" circulation. This flow of positive energy can encounter obstacles if the arrangement of furniture or openings is poorly thought out.
Villa 58 was designed so that a natural ventilation current runs through the house along its entire north-south length, from the patio to the pool. This ventilation (Saharan roof principle) allows hot air to be expelled from the house and facilitates the circulation of "Qi." Furthermore, the position of doors and windows allows three currents to cross the house on an east-west axis to optimize Qi circulation.
The position of the furniture in both living and sleeping areas is designed so as not to create any obstacles.
Apart from the hammam, all rooms have doors and large windows, often placed diagonally, to facilitate the circulation of Qi and positive energy. Unlike riads, our rooms are well-ventilated and very bright while being protected from the sun and connected to nature with their private tree-lined terrace. The large living area (lounge, library, kitchen and dining room), clean and tidy so as not to pollute the mind, facing due south towards the Atlas, overlooks both the pool and the tree-lined garden. The view of trees and plants is ever-present in Villa 58 for an interior connected to nature.
PROPERLY PLACING OPENINGS — LIGHTING QUALITY
A room must have at least one window and one door. These openings are essential for Qi circulation and should ideally be placed on the diagonal of the room. Good lighting quality is essential for maintaining positive energy. Make sure your space is well lit.
UNDERSTANDING ORIENTATION
Feng Shui pays close attention to the orientation of the house and every corner of a room. Each cardinal point corresponds to a life aspiration. For example, elements oriented to the southeast will have an impact on the resident's prosperity, and one must look to the north to change their career destiny. Always building houses facing south is a strong principle, particularly to allow natural light to keep a house warm during winter.
The house faces due south, towards the Atlas, with its pool and jacuzzi on one side and its fish pond on the other. The pond fountain keeps the water in constant motion, allowing energy to circulate harmoniously... The presence of water and the sound it makes as it flows immediately bring a meditative quality. Every space on the grounds, terraces and in the villa has been utilized, allowing everyone to thrive wherever they may be.
Villa 58 was designed following Feng Shui precepts, with the five elements (water, wood, metal, earth & fire) omnipresent. You will find:
- water to the south and north with the pool and fish pond as well as upstairs with the jacuzzi.
- wood in the garden and tree-lined patio of course, but also with the furniture which aims to be very natural, as well as the pergolas, Balinese daybed and massage area.
- metal with the sun shades, wrought iron and moucharabieh.
- earth with the Berber clay walls, Bejmat terraces, vegetable garden and large garden.
- fire with the sun that illuminates the house but also with the living room fireplace and the fire bowl of the Berber tent...
HARMONIZING THE 5 ELEMENTS
Feng Shui recognizes five natural elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. Each element has specific characteristics and must be balanced to promote positive energy. It is important to identify these 5 elements in your interior. Each element will have an effect on different aspects of life.
THE BALANCE OF YIN AND YANG
Feng Shui considers the balance between opposing forces (Yin and Yang) as essential. It is about maintaining harmony between the feminine aspects (Yin) and masculine aspects (Yang) in your space. Yang for living spaces and Yin for resting spaces. The living room, dining room, kitchen and entrance should be separate from the bedroom and bathroom, which are places that must maintain an intimacy and zen atmosphere that allows you to recharge.
The living spaces (Yang) and resting spaces (Yin) of Villa 58 are well separated by the entrance, which serves as the bridge between these two spaces where positive energy flows.
The ground-floor rooms overlook, on one side, a private garden and, on the other, the tree-lined patio with fish pond and fountain.
The decoration, colours and rounded shapes bring softness and serenity to the room, providing an intimacy and zen atmosphere that allows you to recharge.
The Master suite, located upstairs and facing due south towards the Atlas, overlooks a tree-lined solarium, with the sound of the jacuzzi water.
Born of water and desert, Marrakech is an oasis bordered by the Atlas Mountains.
The essential principles of Feng Shui are respected in the villa:
- by its location, position and orientation,
- by the omnipresence of water and its permanent connection with nature,
- by its design with excellent lighting and air quality.
Thus, thanks to the flows of positive energy circulating within the Villa, you will be in a state of well-being, in harmony with nature and its surroundings.
THE BEST LOCATIONS ARE THOSE SURROUNDED BY MOUNTAINS AND BODIES OF WATER
When you apply Feng Shui to your home, it is crucial to examine the entire house and its environment. The Form School focuses on external shapes and structures, such as mountains, rivers, buildings and roads.
